This was honestly one of the best sushi bars I've ever been to. Service was great and the food was amazing! Can't wait to come back.

So it had been a long time since we went to this place and thought we would give it another try... Huge mistake!!! It's terrible, we sat in the dining room and the service is slow. I received my dinner and waited another 5 minutes for my husbands to arrive. When we got home my husband felt ill and later that night I threw up. We both had chicken for dinner. Obviously it was bad. Stay away from this place. I can't believe it's still open.

40 years eating sushi and teppan all over the world I have to say that this place shocked me, first it took 15 minutes before the waitress approached the teppan table we were seated at, there were 4 people seated including us, I asked for teppan and my wife asked for sushi and we were told an extra $10 service on her because she was not going to order teppan...WTF? Second we moved to the sushi bar after I changed my mind since they also told me that the teppan chef was not Japanese so now we order 2 rolls, the sushi DUDE "chef" had an attitude of "don't bother me I'm here ONLY for the check" he made a roll with 2 missing ingredients and when I told him what was missing he just turned around and continued talking with his friends at the other side of the bar, I called the manager and told her of the incredible rude service she went and talked to the DUDE and he gave her an attitude as well, I would have fired him on the spot, she told him to make another roll which I tasted and left half done, we stood up, paid the bill as they need the money more than I do to buy them good service for customers. I would never eat there again and the best thing that DUDE sushi chef can do is to use that knife for SEPPUKU. Sayonara shogun

Worst place ever. We had the worst service that took so long and our server did not care since we were a group of 10 so her tip was guaranteed. Food was below average and very costly. We left the place after paying $250 and went to McDonald's for food. They forgot two of our orders and the place was less than 1/4 full. We will never go back.

This is one of my favorite places in town to go to for sushi. The atmosphere is very extravagant and the Japanese style of the restaurant and teppanyaki tables really bring it all together. They have a variety of different kinds of sushi but my favorite still seems to be the Shogun bomb roll and the grilled eel. The service is pretty decent as well!

Awful food and experience. To start, it took 30 minutes before the first bit of food was delivered to our table... That's not an entirely bad thing if the dish was delicious and worth waiting for, but it was NOT. Everything that was brought out (that was cooked) was cold. Let's run down the list: -Baked Lobster on top of a Shrimp Tempura Roll - Completely cold, probably sat for 20 minutes before a runner grabbed it and brought it to the table. Looked like lobster throw up. -Two orders of Baked Green Muscles - Cold and tough. You know those big pink erasers you use to have in grade school? There you go... Put it on a half shell, slap some Japanese mayo on it and pass it off as a muscle. -Scallop Dynamite Roll - This is the only thing that came out "warm", it's a shame it was such a soggy mess that it fell apart no matter how gentle you tried to finesse it with the chopsticks. -Red Snapper Sushi - This was a huge disappointment. I had such high hopes for this order. You cannot take a dried out slice of Red Snapper, drape it over a ball of sushi rice and call it sushi. There was no flavor, at all. Let's just say, this was not the enjoyable dinner I had envisioned. At the "end" of the meal, which was when I had my fair share of disappointment and just pushed the food away, I explained all the short comings to the server. The server offered to go talk to the manger and see if she could have some items removed from the ticket because we were obviously less than thrilled. After another 5 minutes of waiting, a man approached us and said he was sorry we didn't like the food and offered us a discounted check. He then said, "We don't have any managers around right now so the best I can do is take 7% off your bill". On my $100 meal he subtracted $7.00 which was not even half of ONE awful dish. In conclusion, please do not go to Sho-Gun. Save your money and find something better. In retrospect, there was a McDonald's next door... I could have got a better meal and paid far less. In all honesty, the only thing that was served during this dinner that was as expected was the Pepsi, carbonated and cold.

I would give this place negative stars if I could. Service was poor and the waiter was extremely rude. We didn't receive chop sticks or water until after our meals came. My boyfriend has a serious food allergy and when we asked them to redo the meal because they didn't make it the way we ordered they laughed and the waiter called us assholes loud enough for us to hear. All our food came out at different times and a lot of it came out wrong. Four hour in our whole family had eaten there meals except for two of us who didn't even receive ours. Overall this experience was so poor that everyone left upset. We left and ate McDonalds

This place was actually the worst dining experience I've ever had. Me and my party of six all got up and left because the service was so heinous. Shane, you're a dbag and seemed like you were tweaking out. Our second waiter was also horrible and messed up our order so many times that half of our party never even got food in the hour and a half we sat there. The white sushi chef also proceeded to talk shit right in front of us when we complained about never getting our food. THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT EVER.

So I came here 3 days ago with my husband and father in law and had a terrible experience. The chef that cooked out meal was practically begging for tips... He put his hand out about 3 times and rubbed his fingers together as if we were supposed to pay up to him. Why would we tip in the middle of our dinner or tip twice at a restraunt period? I'm sorry but that was ridiculous to me and the hubby. We tip AFTER our food is done and before we leave... So after that when he leaves he comes back again to start cooking for the table next to us. The whole time he was cooking he had kept looking back at us over his shoulders practically mad dogging us for not tipping him!! Really rude and immature.. My husbands drink was also spiked after the chef had left, with eye drops. Be careful!!!!! Expensive and not worth it.

My family was craving some Japanese food so we took the ferry from California to Arizona to eat here. My feelings towards Shogun are mixed. The sushi itself was delicious but the service was seriously lacking. The waitress was rather incompetent; we didn't receive our LaLa roll and she brought the complex rolls before our simpler ones. Our food took a long time to arrive as well. However, I was still pleased with the delicious food and I would recommend this restaurant to any travelers craving sushi or teppan grill style food.

Food was nothing special and there was a funky smell in the restaurant. Should've been a clear indicator to turn around and leave. Decided to give it a shot anyways....big mistake. First the waitress spills tempura sauce on our table and doesn't apologize or attempt to offer napkins or clean it. Next she brings out our food without any place settings....so I guess we're supposed to eat with our hands. And the cherry on top of the cake is because we had a party of 10, grauity of 18% was added to our bill. If anything, we should've deducted money from the bill based on our service. Needless to say, we will not be back!

This place close. Ha! I warned you ;) This is the slowest service I have ever had at any restaurant. We have been here over an hour and still no food.

came here last night with a party of about 12 for a birthday party, service was really slow but our waitress was definitely trying her best to accommodate us all. Our teppanyaki chef, Kevin, was incredible. Food was cooked perfectly and he was hilarious. Will definitely be back

Very expensive and food is not that great, save some money and go somewhere else. The chef was absolutely terrible.

Not only is this place a great Japanese restaurant, but the staff has great humor! We had a party of 18 who had been drinking on the lake all day and they were very patient for how annoying our group probably was. Kevin was our tapanyake master and we had a blast with him. He let our friend try cracking the egg on the grill and unfortunately he made a mesa, but Kevin was so patient and made fun out of something that could have ticked the average person off. Bobbee was our server and she was great at keeping bills separated and keeping the drinks coming. Only thing I would add to the fun was music (then awkward moments of silence are easily avoidable haha). Great time overall and HR is doing something right be hiring great employees!!

Celebrated r 1st yr Anniversary of being in LHC......at Shogun 4 Tepin.....Ist time there.....Had potential to be a great evening.....except 4 chef, named "Mike." Condescending and Rude! No interaction, except " I'm from Mexico!" Threw the poorly prepared food on r plates......Obviously, he didn't want 2 B there! Left table as soon as he was done...Asked waitress his name, she replied, Chong!" Differently not Hispanic! Asked to speak to manager, but we had to leave....if u go, beware of "Mike!"

The atmosphere is ok, the food is average and the prices are quite high for Havasu, but this is the only place in town where you get the real "Havasu" experience. Nowhere else can you be seated at a large table with open flames and be surrounded by drunken trailer-trash hillbillies! The only way you will see more ink is to be attacked by an octopus, but the real scary part is when you think about all the infectious diseases so close to your food! Once the booze starts flowing, that's when the show really begins, so bring some ear plugs! On on positive note, you can rest assured that most of the people they seat at your table have no teeth so they can't eat all the food!

Came here two nights in a row, made a reservation both days. To sum everything up: the first day we had a reservation at 830pm. We arrived at 8, so we could have a drink before sitting down at the table.. Still no table at 9pm. So when we asked what was going on, they said that it will be at least another hour. We told them that that's why we made a reservation, to eat as soon as possible. They just said that there's nothing they could do. Left after a while because we got tired of waiting and the poor service!!!! Came back the day after, made a reservation again at 8pm.. Still no table around 830!! Think we sat down around 9pm. 1 hour after our reservation!! The food wasn't as good as it usually is at places like this and the guy who cooked the food didn't seem very happy to be there. Would recommend you to save your money!!! NOT worth it to spend money here!

Absolutely amazing show & scrumptious food! The ShoGun Coffee, Cupid Sushi Roll, & the Kamikaze Salmon were delicious!

I have to wonder if the positive reviews of this place is for a different restaurant - yet some yelpers include pictures of the place so I know we're talking about the same place. When we first walked into the restaurant we were greeting with the scent of either wet carpet or fresh paint - I would have turned around at this point, but I wanted something different for lunch and Shogun fit that bill. Our waitress was friendly and let us sit where we wanted. It was 12:30pm and the place was empty except for one other table - not a good sign. Not wanting to test their version of fresh fish, wife and I ordered two Chicken Teriyaki's and two orders of California Rolls. The California rolls were okay. Whereas the Chicken Teriyaki was a bit confusing. For one, the chicken was bland, and another interesting thing is there isn't any teriyaki anywhere near this bird. Now, out of fairness to Shogun, the menu did clearly specify that it comes with a mushroom cream sauce, I just assumed with Teriyaki in the title next to chicken it meant teriyaki would appear someplace near the chicken. Uh. No. Which also made me wonder, why in the world would a restaurant take the most popular Japanese dish and mess it up? Just doesn't seem like a wise decision. The tempura that comes with it was good and the Miso soup was good. PROS: Waitress was friendly & attentive, tempura and Miso Soup was good, California rolls were okay. CONS: Chicken Teriyaki doesn't have any teriyaki which it needs to hide the bland chicken. And the smell, I still don't know what caused that terrible odor. This place has a premium location right in the middle of the tourism traffic and this place had the potential to be really something special yet it appears that over the years the people that own this place are caring less and less.

Can't speak about the food and I feel fortunate that we were treated so poorly that we chose to leave prior to ordering. We had a reservation for 8 pm and arrived at 7:45. George the host greeted us by snidely remarking that we were early and that we needed to wait for another four top before we could be seated for the grill. So we waited until 8 and then my husband went out to ask about us being seated, he was told that they were coming to get us shortly. 10 minutes later, We were sat in a private room where seven others people were seated celebrating Charlie's birthday! (We did not know him) It was a two Grill table that could serve 15. We asked if we could move down with our small children to sit in front of the second grill. The other host said no b/c they only had one chef. We asked why when we arrived 1st with two small kids they would sit us 10 feet away from the grill, we were answered with a blank stare. We decided to stay since it was late and we were hungry. At 8:25 we still had not seen a server to greet us or get us drinks. Went back to the front and spoke to the manager and complained about the seating and lack of service. Was told server would be there shortly and that the chef would be ready in 15 minutes. At that point it would have been 9 before cooking would even start and 1 chef for 11 people was calling for a very long dinner. Thankfully we left and ate at Chili's. Upon reading the reviews, we only lost 2 hours of our time and thankfully avoided sub par food. One star because the bartenders were on point in the lounge while we waited for our table.

LOVE Happy Hour!! Every time we are in Havasu, we hit this place up for HH. Everything we've had is delicious and we've had a table loaded with food! Sometimes the servers don't seem to interested in being there. But once you engage them in conversation, they're pretty nice. They keep on top of removing the empty platters and keeping your beverages full. We WILL be back... Again, and again, and again!

Made a reservation two nights in a row and both nights they told us they couldn't seat us for an additional hour. This place is a cool environment but the reservations are so in organized and not accurate at all

I came here on New Years Eve with some friends and we all really enjoyed this place. We actually stumbled upon this place by accident because a lot of places were closed but I'm so happy we did. We received really good service and the food was great! I ordered the lettuce wraps and miso cod. They were both delicious! I will definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

With their new menu of January 2014, Shogun has really stepped up their quality of food. Chef Tom Hanlon has created some beautiful and delicious dishes! We got the miso black cod and pecan crusted mahi mahi - and both were excellent! What used to be a great sushi and teppanyaki place with average food is now an excellent dining experience all around!!! Come try out their new menu items - you will be surprised and delighted!

PLEASE READ THIS! We came here for my birthday dinner and I have to say the overall experience was incredible. YOU MUST SIT AT A TEPPENYAKI TABLE FOR THE FULL EXPERIENCE AND ENSURING OPTIMAL SERVICE. I see a lot of people complaining on these about bad service or a wait, if you have a small party and a reservation you still have to wait for some other couples to trickle in and fill up the table. I ordered the fillet mignon medium rare and I have to say it was cooked absolutely perfectly. If you order this wait a second for it to cool down if you eat it immediately it will be salty due to the soy sauce but give it a second to cool down and let all the flavor sink in. The fried rice is like to die for and of course the fresh vegetables are good too. My boyfriend ordered sushi he got the lolli pop rolls. If you love sushi it is a must order! The presentation was amazing so cute and apparently very delicious. Shayne was our waiter and he was at our table about every five minutes making sure our experience was great. I don't remember the chefs name but he was younger and hilarious also very nice and he know what he was doing. Overall I have to say that you should give it a try and see for yourself after reading the bad reviews I was skeptical, but after trying it out I left in a state of euphoria. I will be going back all the time! So don't let the bad reviews sway you just see for yourself

  • Darryl M.

i would give them a minus if we could. the service sucks!!!!! don't waist your money here, you are better to go to smiths market and pick up fresh sushi and not have to wait. we left after 1 hour and 45 min and was still waiting for 2 tuna rolls. we do not place reviews, but this was soooooo bad, we needed to. ( once again, the service sucks, and you will leave hungry and pissed off)

First of all a big shout out to Sergio at the sushi bar. One of the best experiences i have ever had in a sushi restaurant. Make sure you order a volcano roll. AMAZING!!! Also, order the fuji apple sake. It is so good. Any sushi is good and if you want to go here for a little bit of karaoke they have it too.

This place had great food every thing was made from scratch including the teriyaki Sauce and at an average of 35.00$ dollars a plate it's a steal the staff was fun and adaptive, very much a must visit destination

I have been here several times for dinner and only once for lunch. Lunch was nothing special. You can order "boxed" lunches and they have a wide variety of items to choose from. I chose the katsu chicken and was disappointed. It was thin and really dry. I haven't been back for lunch. If you go for dinner, definitely try the teppanyaki grill or some sushi. They have some pretty good sushi here. My favorite is the "Fatty Loh" - which has deep fried avocado. (Super creamy and tasty!) I also like their dragon roll. When you do the grill, you receive soup and salad while waiting for the chef. You have the option of mushroom/onion soup or miso. The salad comes with a house dressing, but you can sub a few others. I can never decide between the soups. Both are good and salty. When the chef finally shows up, he puts on a show as he cooks up your food. The show consists of spinning/balancing an egg on a spatula, setting a pyramid of onion rings on fire, and making fun of the audience and/or self-depreciating comments. While it can be cheesy, it's fun with friends and family. I also really like seeing the food prepared in front of me. After balancing an egg and all that jazz, the chef cooks up some fried rice. The fried rice is one of my favorites. You can really taste the soy sauce, which I like. Next, the chef sautés up some vegetables, which are tasty. Finally, the meat is prepared. I've had the steak, chicken, shrimp, and scallops. Of all of them, the shrimp is my favorite. The steak is a really thin cut that tastes dry, even if you order medium rare. The chicken seemed pretty dry as well. The shrimp was plump and juicy. When cooking up the salmon, the chef says he "found Nemo" and this elicits a grimace/chuckle from everyone. I've seen him set up the lobster body/shell so it looks like it is sitting and watching you (creepy much). If you aren't full, they have a mango sorbet for after dinner. My husband really likes this and usually has room. Overall, it's a neat experience - especially for Havasu.

We had dinner here tonight and the food was very delicious!!!! It was awesome watching it be cooked right in front of us!!!!! I had California rolls, avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, asparagus rolls, and potstickers. My food was excellent. The others in my group loved their food also. I loved the homemade fried rice with the ginger sauce and the yum yum sauce. The only reason I'm not leaving a 5 star review is because the prices are absolutely outrages! I'm glad we had a 10% off coupon or we would have paid $75 our bill was $65 after the coupon. That was for three people. I'm not sure how much the other family in our group paid they had a separate check. I'll go back during happy hour next time!!!

  • Mario O.

Overall the place was a fun experience for my friends and I. The food was slightly above average, but not the best for what you pay. If you're going for sushi do not settle for anything less then the best they have to offer or you will be disappointed. Steak was over cooked, but I am a man that likes rare so, maybe I'm just being biased. Overall the service was good, and our chef was a really fun. Though I felt sorry for the table next to us as their waiter was not as sociable. Avoid the cocktails at all cost! Overpriced, watered down, and too sweet for our taste.

Well, where do I start. My party of 6 arrived and were seated fairly quickly although we were not able to sit at the Grill table due to not making a reservation, that i can understand. The problems first started with getting sushi menus for all of our party to order from since there were 3 separate checks. That took about 30minutes, then we finally got our sushi plates after waiting almost 45 minutes, all of us ordered 1-2 rolls. We took our time eating our rolls and still had to wait another 30 minutes for our actual meals to arrive. That's not the best part.. Upon getting our checks, two parties paid with cash, while my husband and I had to actually walk the check up to the hostess table to avoid waiting another 20-30 minutes. While waiting for some people from our party our waitress actually chased us down and COMPLAINED ABOUT HER TIP!! Who does that? First off, she never even checked on our table, secondly it took almost 2 hours from the time we sat down to the time we received our checks because she never seemed to remember we were sitting there. AFTER making a scene about her tip left by one of the couples in our party she decided to throw us a guilt trip and complain about how she was 'nice' and didn't charge us gratuity. Um, I'm pretty sure that was HER choice. After the whole party spending close to $300 AND her already getting tips (which she's lucky she even got because she was a HORRIBLE waitress) she still had the nerve to actually confront the couple FORCING them to give her a bigger tip. Well all the couple had on them was $20, so she ended up getting that. We complained to the manager and all he said was he would talk to her... Um how about that $20 back that she forced us to give her?!?! Crazy people, I will never go back to this place again. I'm sure there will be more negative reviews after hearing other parties complain tonight.

We went in with a birthday special coupon and were immediately made to feel uncomfortable. It was me and 2 children, but we weren't offered the child menu. Our order arrived in 3 different deliveries - with lots of time in between. Service was substandard. Food was so-so. We won't go back.

    (2)
  • Melanie M.

Came here with a group of six people. There were three couples, so each couple paid their own bill. All together we spent more than $300 here. Ten minutes after us paying our bill were using the restroom and standing outside goodbye when our waitress, Piper, came chasing after us combining about her tip. We were caught totally off guard and were forced to give her the only cash we had, which were twenty dollar bills. In my opinion she should have gotten no more than a five dollar tip. We had to constantly ask her to refill our waters, and our food took way too long to come out. If this place is hiring people like this I can guarantee you will lose service. Ridiculous!

    (1)
  • Kristen G.

Don't waste your time or money here. Usually you go to enjoy teppanyaki for the show and great food. You get neither here. The chef will barely talk to you unless you strike up the conversation. They do two "tricks" an egg roll and onion volcano. The food was bland and even the vegetables were undercooked. One of the worst ones I've ever been to.

  • Antonio R.

This place was definitely worth it. The kids had a blast with the Chef and the waitress really took good care of us. Kevin was our Chef and Bobbi was our waitress. 5 stars all the way.

  • Jason B.

This restaurant is amazing. Some of the freshest fish I've ever had. Keith and Sergio are unbelievablly the best. Our waitress ms Bobbie is the best too. Very attentive to our every need and quite the mind reader too. She never missed a beat with us. Great job sho gun staff !!!

  • Tim T.

Just came home from Shoguns. Let me tell you the food was spot on. Waiter was helpful and on it. Can't believe people write negative reviews of this place. It's Saturday night. My daughter and I walked in with no reservation. Got seated right a way. What more can you ask for.

  • Joel A.

Being from Hawaii I'm really picky about seafood. For being 2 hours from the closest major airport (for true fresh fish), and in sunny Lake Havasu this place does very well on my scale. When i get a craving for fish/sushi in Lake Havasu this is my spot.. I have always liked their service, and their sushi is good considering where we are. What would I change? Really nothing to speak of, they are doing a good job. It's worth a stop, hit the bar and order some sushi!

  • LA E.

I wanted take a friend for his first sushi meal. With the mixed reviews, I was a little concerned but this is the only game in town so we decided to try it out. We arrived early for dinner and there were very few other diners. The service we got from Bobbie was second to none! She was very friendly and personable. She knew the menu and made great suggestions. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. It was way over 100 degrees out and the air was blasting out nice cold air. The salmon skin cut roll was above average but the jalapeno bombs and the spicy garlic edamame were spectacular! The teriyaki chicken bento box was very good as well. We look forward to going back and trying different menu items.

The worst Teppan I have ever had. Dont waste your money. Even the Miso soup was bad how do you mess that up?

    (1)
  • Chad S.

Eh... not great, certainly not bad. But in Lake Havasu, where else can one go for sushi? Wait... did I just use the words Sushi and Lake Havasu in the same sentence????!!!! Oh man... what has become of me?!

    (3)
  • Lorraine J.

Super cool! We were in Havasu and wanted to try this place out. Other friends had tried it and weren't happy with the food or service but we decided to try it again and we are glad we did. The food was good, the service was great and the chef was entertaining! We had the lobster and shrimp, fillet Mignon and chicken and everything was great! Definitely recommend this place. The only reason we didn't give it a 5 stars is because I don't like the carpet, it looks as though it could be dirty (its dark red).

    (4)
  • Steve W.

Wow!! Who would have thought that you could find a great sushi bar in the middle of the desert. We found Shogun In Lake Havasu and couldn't be more pleased. Our new desert sushi hotspot!!

It was fun. The food was okay. Meat was tough and not the best quality but the price was not outrageous for Japanese. Fun but food just okay.

Just left this place. We went there for happy hour. Never been there before so asked waiter about happy hour. He rattled off a few things and said he would bring us a menu and then he never returned so we all left. I complained to manager and he did basically nothing. We won't return. Too many great options near this restaurant.

I was very worried to try this place because.. It just doesn't fit Havasu .. sushi bar on the sun?? I am glad we took a chance.. This place is awesome! The Chili Garlic Edamame was awesome ... I want more now!! We will be back here because of the jewel of this place our server Bobie! She was wonderful. More places should have servers like her!!

Hello. $5:00 margaritas but $3.00 more if you want it blended. Really ? Not impressed with this place.

  • J S.

It's okay, I certainly haven't gotten sick like I did from another restaurant here that served sushi, but it doesn't have a wow quality. The Yakisoba beef noodle bowl was my newest venture, the beef felt fake, rubbery almost, and I burnt my tongue badly on the first bite. The teppan experience is fun, but they cook everything with butter and I'm allergic to that and shrimp so I feel like a pain in the butt asking for special treatment due to allergies. The staff is always friendly and professional and one waitress even remembered that I like sesame seeds on my avocado roll.

I went to this restaurant a year ago, never have wanted to go back! The atmosphere there was just odd, nobody there but one guy who seated us, took the order, served us and then brought and collected the bill. No customers there either... It was a year ago but from what I remember it was either a Thursday or Friday around 2 or 3 So odd that my friend and I and her little daughter were the only ones there. It felt too dark in there as well. We did get a lot of attention from the waiter, maybe a little too much. Food wasn't good and took a bit long to get to our table, considering there wasn't anything happening at that time. The food was just plain, kinda mushy... I've never had a mushy sushi roll tell shogun's. It was so unmemorable I can't even remember which roll I had ordered... my friend wasn't impressed either. So yeah that's why I haven't returned.

Theres a lot of bad reviews here but for what I had (Fried Rice with Teriyaki Beef) it was quite good. Fried Rice is by far the best item here, from looks of other reviews dont mess around with the sushi

Visited Labor Day weekend this year, SUPER busy... wait was about a half hour for a cozy booth, no way were we going to get to the teppan tables (note, the hostess kind of laughed at us when we first asked if it was possible, and it was a little condescending, I wish I'd gotten her name because she was just horrible! ...mid length, curly brown hair is all I recall) Server was great, helpful and followed his recommendations as u can see in the photos for this special fried roll with avocado on top, and I can't remember what it was called, so sorry! It was a special roll tho not on the menu at the time. I snacked on the gyoza appetizer, and a side order of fried rice. We ate light after a long day on the water. My guy got the spicy tuna roll and was happy with that. Energy was lively, lots of young people there! I wish I could rate how the teppan was, to be honest, because that's usually why I visit Shogun restaurants (Pasadena/Temecula, CA) Shogun restaurants I've visited regularly hit/miss when it comes to sushi. This place was a hit with me on the special roll I ordered. Definitely the same energy though, great young crowd for Havasu. Can't rate the cocktails here, as I stuck to water. I'd come back when I make another river trip! Definitely would make a reservation for teppan if visiting during a holiday weekend, too.

Came for dinner and sat at the Bar. Sarah was my bartender/server and though cute, was not exactly what I would call friendly. Texted on her phone, watched what she wanted on the TV, and barely made eye contact let alone any conversation. Spent $60 all by my self and tipped 11 undeserved dollars without so much as a thank you. Asked her her name and she gave it, but no handshake and didn't even ask my name in return. When I left, no one, not my bartender or anyone else said thank you or good bye. Food was quite tasty, though the portions could've been a little better especially for a sushi restaurant in the middle of the desert.

Will never come back!!! My husband and I had the worst experience at this restaurant. Service was horrible. We had to wait for 20 mins to place our orders. Never got the appetizer we ordered. The chef wasn't attentive whatsoever, it was very hard to get his attention because he was talking to his coworker the whole time. But food was pretty good I admit. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Shogun's has been a little hit and miss for us. We love our teppenyaki so we always like to go everytime we come up to Havasu. This time it was a hit. Apparently we had the manager doing our meal, he wasn't into "the show" of it at all...which I didn't really care cuz they all do the same skit every time. I'd much rather get a good meal since it's a little spendy. Everything was cooked perfectly this time. The scallops were HUGE and usually they get over cooked, not this time. We'll be back for sure.

Shogun offers something different for Lake Havasu area, because it specializes in teppan-yaki. It's great for groups and bunch of hungry party goers that need to be constantly entertained. Big teppan-yaki tables, grills and master chefs creating onion volcano's, fires, and bunch of other crazy food things will leave you with unforgettable experience. In addition, there is a standard menu and sushi bar, which requires less wait than the main teppan-yaki attraction. The rolls are standard, but seriously nothing special. It was OK for the night and I would recommend to stick to sushi only and save the rolls for amateurs. Wasabi tuna salad was great, but lacked of more sophisticated mixed greens... The atmosphere is great and the staff is very very attentive, so we proceeded to the separate bar, where sake bombs has landed. They were so nice to us that some of them were even on the house! Overall a great spot to eat, meet friends and be entertained. Bravo Lake Havasu!

Sitting here waiting for our rolls. Took 20 minutes for 2 California rolls. The sushi chef kept stopping to watch football. Wasn't all that happy with the waitress. Food was great when it got to us. Rolls are very good.

So I was really excited to find some new sushi offerings in Havasu and decided to give it a try but I found my excitement soon vanished into utter disappointment. Upon entering the establishment, we immediately noticed how many people were there. To me, that is usually a good sign. So we decided to sit at the sushi bar and took a list of the rolls offered. Coming from LA where most establishments offer quite a selection, there list was awfully sparse. They did not list any albacore sashimi on the menu, but after asking the sushi chef he did say it was available. We ordered three rolls which were terrible. Lots of rice, not much quality fish. Gyoza dumplings tasted like the came straight out of the bag from Costco. The Sashimi by far was the most enjoyable. Considering how wrong everything else was, at least they got that right. Beyond the lack of selection, my second biggest gripe was service. The sushi chef behind the counter, who happened to be white, was by all accounts absolutely rude. We had probably four different waiters come by and refill our water but we never really knew who was taking care of us. When we asked our sushi chef to place an order for the gyoza rolls he rudely stated he only took sushi orders. Really? How hard is it to make sure the customer is pleased. I frequent a place in garden grove called Mika and I guess I have just become so spoiled by the price and quality of the service I receive there. Shogun seems like it is exploiting the absolute ignorance of Lake Havasu locals as to what a decent Japanese dining experience consists of. I say stay away. It is a shame, I really was excited to have a decent Sushi restaurant experience in Havasu.

Will NEVER return! As full-time RVers, we've dined in teppanyaki restaurants across the U.S., and this was without a doubt the worst experience on all levels that our family has ever encountered! Making it worse, we were there to celebrate my youngest daughter's 8th birthday or else I would have been tempted to walk out completely (something that's never even crossed our minds, but would have been fitting for this experience.) Just a brief overview: - Reservations at 8pm - weren't seated until 8:45pm - Sat at the sushi bar to wait and at least get some appetizers, but despite only 2 other couples at the bar itself, the chef didn't even look at our sheet for 35 minutes. - Ordered salmon (horrid chewy veins) and a roll - each piece of which we had to remove the inedible Nori which was too tough to chew and swallow. - Drinks brought by waiter from the sushi bar to our table - only problem is he brought me SOMEONE else's ice tea and not mine - and I didn't realize it until I took the first sip!!! Yiiick! - With 3 children under 10 at the table, the chef flips a green pea on our daughter's plate and proclaims "Happy Birthday - I pee on you!" - As the kids were excited to see the rice shaped into a heart, the chef then spreads the top of the heart apart and lights it on fire and says, "Not a heart - it's a butt on fire" - Rice was burnt (I'll refrain from a butt joke here) - Scallops were raw - Lobster like rubber - Fillet Mignon (ordered Med Rare) was so rare blood was oozing onto the plate - He forgot the dipping sauces until I had to remind him and then mumbled that I was asking him for them in the "wrong order" (funny though that he had to ask the waiter to go get the sauce cups which he didn't even have on his cart. - In portioning out the ginger dipping sauce, some of us received a glob of ginger instead of sauce, while others received pure liquid - we actually had to mix ours amongst ourselves to get a proper consistency. - Half the veggies were mush - the other half were raw &cold - No juggling of knives or "show" to speak of and when our table mates asked, he told him it was coming and he needed to wait - never happened. - The one attempt at a "show" resulted in a spinning egg on the spatula. The chef then spun in a circle, and proceeding to drop his egg on the grill behind us. At which point he turned away from us, scooped it off the dirty grill surface and plopped it back on our table and continued cooking... And so it went! ... But hey - it could have been worse - the lady at the table behind us had an entire tray of food & drinks spilled in her hair and on her entire outfit!

While I have been spoiled by the Sushi restaurants in Seal Beach, this place is the best sushi place in town. Our waitress was sweet. She gave it 100 percent. However, don't be in a hurry when you eat here. Kitchen is slow even when the restaurant is not crowded. Teriyaki seafood was excellent. California Roll made up around a crab leg instead of chopped up crab. I guess the best way to describe Shogun is that they are marching one step off the beat. They can't seem to get the kitchen, wait staff and the customers all on the same page at the same time. When they get it together they will be a good place to go. I hope they work a little more at their coordination.

Here on business and this rating comes with the caveat that we ate with some real fun locals. In any case, the restaurant is a bit dark, but it works well when the chefs do fire performances. There is a fantastic happy hour with half price drinks and appetizers every afternoon. The chef that I had was friendly and definitely played off the energy at the table. He dazzled the table with some teppanyaki tricks and was cracking jokes the whole time. The staff was also very accommodating and was nothing like some of the reviews that I've read below. The food is pretty decent, but still standard teppanyaki fare. I had the scallops and chicken, and it was well made but nothing to write home about. That being said, this is a good variation to the kinda dull selection around Lake Havesu. 3 stars for food, 4 for service, 5 for the company. 4 stars overall.

I went to Shogun last winter with my friends (yes, I'm late to the signing up on Yelp but it's a pain in the rear since I'm living in Japan at the moment!) Anyways, I went for lunch with a few of my friends. It wasn't very busy and it was really easy to get in to one of the teppan tables. Fare was pretty standard as compared to the teppanyaki place I've been to. We were seated with another pair or trio, and we proceeded to order. My friends had already been there so I ordered a beer to go with my meal. Maybe it's pretentious, but I'd been living in Japan for over a year and a half, so I said Kirin (kee-reen) and the waiter had no clue. I repeated it. Still no clue. Doh. I got the surf and turf (steak and scallops if I remember correctly). The chef was ok, but not a whole ton of personality. He was definitely friendly though. The steak and scallops were cooked well. But! The salad was drenched in an awful "Japanese" dressing. And the miso soup!?? What abomination was this being served. I've never ever ever had miso soup so bad. I don't think we ordered any sushi, if we did it was utterly forgettable. So, overall an ok experience. Just nothing overly impressive and I just can't get over how AWFUL the sides with the meal were. Stay away from the miso at all costs. And just not up to par with my other experiences with teppanyaki. Fun if you've never been before.

Shogun is not the most authentic sushi around, and the servers are always wildly incompetent. But if you order the right rolls, you will overlook its flaws for a great meal. Their different rolls are hit and miss, but some rolls are consistantly fantastic: the cupid roll (baked white fish, avocado, lemon mayonaise sauce, and masago), havasu/vegas, (flash tempura tuna/salmon roll with avocado and cream cheese) and the fire roll (spicy tuna with cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, and seasonings. Simple, but good). The dragon and catepillar are good unagi options as well. Don't be discouraged if you find yourself in an empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, the place is always packed at nights. Don't vary too much from the suggested rolls, and you will have a great sushi experience.

Food was ok, fish was fresh, but service needs improvement. Most of the staff were young stuck up and not professional. The manager looks like a mini tated up thug, which its ok and all but not when you have to deal with customers. There was a situation going on when we were walked in and seated and it took awhile for our server to come over. We ordered a bottle of wine, and you could tell that our server had never "served" a bottle of wine to anyone. I hate to be a wine snob, but I guess I'm just use to big city service. I won't go back unless this is the only sushi place in Lake Havasu.

i used to think that once you've been to a teppan-yaki grill, you've been to them all... chefs make lots of noise clanging their knifes around, they make an onion volcano... sure, neat the 1st couple times, then you realize they allllll do the same tricks, none of them seem to really enjoy what they're doing. ya get a lack-lustre show, and and overly-soysauced piece of meat sliced into bite-sized bits. quite honestly, the menu IS what you'd expect at any other teppan-yaki grille. but unlike the jaded chefs you see in so.cal , these guys have fun while dicing and slicing your food, and manage to not turn your jumbo scallops into chewable soysauce. waitstaff is friendly and attentive. the bartenders concoct tasty and imaginative martinis. my only gripe is that the sushi bar is lame. and sadly, havasu is seriously (still) lacking a decent sushi-joint

We've been to Shogun twice now. Fantastic is not too strong a description of the food. We had the Teppan grill both times we were there. The food and the show were great the first time, the second time the place was packed so we sat in the restaurant but were able to order the teppan there as well, but they cooked it in the kitchen. It was still great. The service was good too. This place is getting busier and busier as they become more known in town, which is likely why we couldn't sit at one of their several teppan grills. I am really sticking my neck out writing this good review, I'll probably never be able to get in there again! I don't do sushi but there were a number of people at the sushi bar while we were there. It's dark, like most Teppan grill places, which is a welcome change for Havasu, burning daylight, lemme tell you. I can't recommend Shogun more highly. I hope they keep their quality and service up. We plan on eating there every time we're in town. It was a total pleasure.

The food was delicious. And the sushi. We came in around closing time with a group of around 16, and wanted to do the grill-side table thing. They gladly accommodated us. It seems like they had to call the chefs to come back to work because it was closing and like no one was there. It kinda worried me that the place was empty, but I was surprised. The food actually was soooo yummy! The chef that we got at our table was very entertaining. He might have been drunk, but it was a good thing. He made our experience enjoyable. the only thing that made me take off stars, was the fact that we saw 2 rats/mice while we were there. They hide behind the TV at the sushi bar counter and crawl up to a hole in the ceiling. I didn't believe what I saw, until I saw it again! Fortunately it was at the end of our meal and we were leaving anyways.

the set up is similar to benihana because they have a chief who cooks in front of the customers. We didn't experience the "show" because we just went straight to a table and ordered individual meals. The menu had a variety of dishes that sounded tasteful but once you take the first bite of your order it's no where near what you expected. you have to put a lot of additional sauce and spices in order to enjoy your bland meal. what makes this place even worst is the service. the workers are fine, but you seriously have to wait forever for your food to be served. i suggest you don't go there hungry because the long wait will lead you to starvation. our party was big, with many different orders expressed, but everyone had the same thought in mind. that the food had no wow factor, not even a simple satisfaction on our taste buds. now i know why this place wasn't crowded because after my experience, it won't be attracting me back.

My Nephews girlfriend had a birthday get together with family and friends! She turned 21 we had fourteen people all together! The service was great as it could get! The food was prepared at our table with a excellent chef that was able to surprise us with many tricks! He was very friendly he prepared the steak, shrimp,Lobster and scallops to name a few things that we ordered! I would say on a scale of 1-10 it was for sure a 8 being very good almost excellent! My wife said i should give it a 10 but an 8 is what i think it was as the portions of the steak could have been a bit better same with the lobster! The price was a bit high but worth it since the food was prepared in front of all of us like a show! The chef was very talented if you go on a weekday you will get the best service like we did otherwise since the food is so good it will be very busy on the weekend! Enjoy!

We last moment decided to stay a night in Lake Havasu last Saturday and chose Shogun for dinner as we have a shogun near us that is wonderful. We didn't have reservations and arrived at peak time. Were told it was about a 20 min. or more wait and we decided to wait in the bar. It was taking longer then expected and they were very good at keeping us informed. When a table was taking an extra long time to finish the manager brought us over 3 appetizers to hold us over! This was amazing service and we would certainly recommend this place to anyone and we we'll be returning when in Lake Havasu City. Our Teppan chef LALA was amazing one of the best we have had and we have had many Teppan chefs over the years. Thank you for the excellent customer service something you do not find much of anymore! They had a live bad playing in the bar that night and i believe every Friday and Saturday that we enjoyed as well.

First of all a big shout out to Sergio at the sushi bar. One of the best experiences i have ever had in a sushi restaurant. Make sure you order a volcano roll. AMAZING!!! Also, order the fuji apple sake. It is so good. Any sushi is good and if you want to go here for a little bit of karaoke they have it too.

i would give them a minus if we could. the service sucks!!!!! don't waist your money here, you are better to go to smiths market and pick up fresh sushi and not have to wait. we left after 1 hour and 45 min and was still waiting for 2 tuna rolls. we do not place reviews, but this was soooooo bad, we needed to. ( once again, the service sucks, and you will leave hungry and pissed off)

This place had great food every thing was made from scratch including the teriyaki Sauce and at an average of 35.00$ dollars a plate it's a steal the staff was fun and adaptive, very much a must visit destination

Ridiculous!

Just came home from Shoguns. Let me tell you the food was spot on. Waiter was helpful and on it. Can't believe people write negative reviews of this place. It's Saturday night. My daughter and I walked in with no reservation. Got seated right a way. What more can you ask for.
